Research on the effects of gasoline with bio-cosolvents on the operation and emissions of spark ignition engines
Original language description
Gasoline-ethanol mixtures are sensitive to the presence of water. A higher water concentration in a gasoline-ethanol mixture may result in a water phase separation, which ethanol will turn into. The separation of water can be avoided by the use of cosolvents, e.g. ethyl levulate, butyl levulate, butanol or higher order alcohols as N-butanol, N-propanol and I-propanol. The work presented studies the impact of the addition of cosolvents into gasoline containing 5% volume of ethanol on the operation and emissions of gasoline engines.
