Bionics: Egg shell
Original language description
Bionics is a quiet new but rapidly evolving scientific discipline dealing with the study, characterisation and the use of some of the functional structures found in nature. The term BIONICS is composed of two words - BIOlogy and technICS. The objective of bionics is to observe and study nature to find and understand the secrets of the structural and material adaptations to the environment through observation and study of nature. After that the acquired knowledge of the function and principles could be used and mimicked in many branches of our technologies, e.g. in medicine, engineering, aviation, etc. As an example can be given phenomena such as superhydrophobicity, hydrophilicity or self-organization. By the use of modern examination techniques as scanning electron or atomic force microscopy we can visit an extraordinary world of unusual nano- and micro-sized structures. This paper describes the study of egg shell as an excellent natural packaging material and its similarity with mode
