Couette-like and Poiseuille-like flows in micro-channel – DSMC investigation
Original language description
In this paper, argon gas flow in microchannel is simulated using an open source Direct Simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) code for general application to rarefied gas flow. Two cases are considered, one resembling the problem of Couette flow and the second one resembling the Poiseuille flow. Both Couette and Poiseuille flow have an analytical solutions in continuum limit and for incompressible fluid. Those solutions are consequently compared against results of molecular gas dynamics simulations. The DSMC code used has been written within the framework of the open source C toolbox called OpenFOAM and it has been validated for micro-channel flows by White et al. [2]
