Tribological Properties DLC layers
Original language description
Amorphous materials have different properties than crystalline materials, therefore their unique properties are examined. Diamond-like carbon (DLC) is a type of amorphous carbon material that displays some of the typical properties of diamond. Among their excellent properties include a low coefficient of friction, which makes this surface layer usable in the coating of tools for machining. Surface layers are applied by sputtering PA CVD. Coating method PA CVD allows coating at temperatures of 300-400 °C, which allows shortening of the coating process. DLC layers are not suitable for use for machining at high temperatures. Coated tools are suitable for machining of non-ferrous metals, plastic parts, composites.
