    Carbon Allotropes for Medicine

    Carbon forms differs with atom locations in crystallographic units, but especially important is electron configuration between atoms. As we know now; there are three allotropic forms with different electronic structure. Carbyne was implemented for medicine by Guseva. Experimental data on the use of carboncoated medical implants and prostheses were described in 1995 [1]. Graphite, known for decades, has been repeatedly used for medicine and biomedical engineering. Graphene (including graphene oxide and reduced graphene oxide), single and few-atom-thick graphite layers with sigma sp2 hybridized atoms, has stimulated great interest and research in the synthesis and characterization of graphene-like materials, which show fascinating and technologically useful properties [2]. Graphene-like 2D materials allow applications in sensing and biosensing, catalysis, electronics and biomedical engineering field. Diamond crystal for centuries known as a materiál biologically inactive. In the opposite - as nanomaterial diamond prove to be very active [3]. In the shape of nanoparticles can be very useful [4].
