    The specifics of low-alloyed cast irons of type GJS SiMo for high temperature applications of exhaust tracts of internal combustion piston engines according to EN 16124 standard are introduced. Boundary exposition temperature causes structural degradation of cast iron by temperature overloading. The material of over-exposed exhaust pipelines was investigated by light microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. LM, SEM, and XRD. The exceeding of critical temperature is the root cause of degradation of useable properties of material
