STUDY OF HEAT TRANSFER IN BACKWARD-FACING STEP FLOW USING PARTIALLY-AVERAGED NAVIER-STOKES (PANS) TURBULENCE MODELING METHOD
Original language description
Backward facing step flow is one of the suitable cases for validation of a new turbulence model. The present study deals with numerical simulations of heat transfer from wall past the backward facing step. Numerical simulations are carried out using the Partially-Averaged Navier-Stokes method. The study was performed at Reynolds number Re-H = 28000 that is based on the height of the step. An influence of physical resolution was studied using various ratios f(k) of unresolved to total resolved turbulent kinetic energy. Results from numerical simulations were compared with experimental data performed at the same Re-H. The reattachment length varied with the fk ratio in a same way as the minimal value of the Skin friction coefficient and position of the peak of the Stanton number.
