Use of 2D Convolution for Image Inspection
Original language description
The main problem in the 2D convolution application for digital signal processing, for instance image inspection, is its low speed. The speed considerably increases, if the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) is used. However, irrespective of speed, the digitalconvolution applied to digital images has other unexpected features: if the convolution peak is dominant, then it is shifted both in the 1D and 2D convolution. Large images cannot be processed effectively and convolution of quasi-periodic images does notexhibit sharp peak. Examples and description of these effects are presented in the paper.
