Modelling of the Fracture Flow: Present state and Ideas for Future Research
Original language description
This contribution gives overview of current state-of-the-art achived by our research group in the field of the modelling of the fluid flow in fractured rock environment. First, we will briefly introduce existing model. The models solves linear Darcy flowon the set of polygons placed in 3D space. The mixed-hybrid FEM is used for approximation of the PDE's. Then we will present limitations of this models, e.g. we will introduce what kinds of problems can and cannot be solved. These limitations concerns mostly the size of the mesh and total number of fractures. Some plans for the future works will be introduced in the second part of the contribution. We want to present some ideas how to avoid current limitations. It seems to be the most promissing possibility to combine a regularized fracure mesh with some one-dimensional elements and to fill the rest of the space with 3D elements.
