    Generalized Eigenvalue problem in Modelling of Resonance Characteristics of Piezoelectric Resonators

    The paper describes the finite element (FEM) model of the piezoelectric resonator based on the physical description of the piezoelectric material. Discretization of the problem then leads to a large sparse linear algebraic system, which defines the generalized eigenvalue problem. Resonance frequencies can be subsequently found by solving this algebraic problem. Several iterative methods for solving the generalized eigenvalue problem are used and the results are compared with measurement in the case of simply shaped resonators. Then the different possible approach is discussed and the algorithm for solving the eigenvalue problem is proposed. It is based on the connectivity of our problem with problem of computing zeros of a linear multivariable system,arising in the theory of control.
