Application of Principal Component Analysis in Modelling of Underground Water Transport
Original language description
The paper deals with an unusual approach to reduction of a transport-reaction problem. We use Principal Component Analysis (PCA) which is widely used and applied in signal analysis and other technological problems but not in the context of transport-reaction problems. The paper introduces a linear algebraic interpretation of chemical analysis of a contaminated site and application of PCA for reduction of computational time of the transport part of a transport-reaction problem preserving as much information as possible. The paper deals also with interpretation of PCA results back to the ?chemistry language?.
