    Mathematical model of aggregation of nanoscale particles with surface charge

  • Original language description

    The nanoparticles of zero-valent iron (NZVI) are often used for the remediation of contaminated areas, e. g. areas contaminated with chlorinated ethanes and ethenes. Due to the NZVI it is possible to change oxidation state of the contaminant or adsorb the pollutant on the surface of NZVI. It is important to ensure a good transport through the pore medium of the particles. This is not so easy because nanoparticles aggregate. This effect results in an impaired mobility of the particles in the ground whichis why we study properties of the particles. In this paper we generate a mathematical model that describes the aggregation kinetics. Then we analyze the rate of aggregation and describe clustering technique useful for real computations by using the derived model.
