Control of Noise Transmission through the Glass Window using the MFC Actuator
Original language description
Glass windows are common parts of buildings for many centuries. At the same time, they represent a major noise source for the building interior. The reason for this is that they usually do not represent an effective sound barrier due to their low flexural rigidity. The aim of this work is to analyze and demonstrate a new approach to reduce noise transmission through the glass window plate in the audible frequency range using a Macro Fiber Composite (MFC) piezoelectric actuator and the principle of Active Piezoelectric Shunt Damping (APSD).
