Measurement of Mechanical and Electrical Energy Flows in the Semiactive Piezoelectric Shunt Damping System
Original language description
A semiactive vibration control system with a piezoelectric element and a negative impedance circuit was successfully realized. Properly set negative impedance can change the effective elasticity of the piezoelectric element and, therefore, it can changethe ratio between transmitted, reflected and absorbed energy of the mechanical vibrations. Reflecting or absorbing the incident vibration energy results in the complete mechanical isolation of a given object. Recent efforts are focused on broadening theeffective frequency range and improving the energy consumption efficiency of such systems. Energy consumption efficiency is an important factor in battery-powered service-free applications. The paper presents results of a theoretical analysis of the mechanical energy flow in the vibration control system. Results of the theoretical analysis are compared with results of measurements taken on the system composed of the bulk piezoelectric actuator connected to the negative impedance control
