Procedure of Migration Simulation of Nanosized Particles in Ground, both Theoretical and Practical Approach

  • Original language description

In the field of environmental engineering, nanoparticles migrating through ground are studied. Their migration possibilities are reduced due to interactions among the nanoparticles and between nanoparticles and ground. The main processes are aggregation, silting of ground, sorption. In the case of nanosized particles, no general model exists for description of these processes. That is why we need to understand the causes of the processes and to derive physical and mathematical model which we use in software of underground transport simulations. In the presentation, theoretical concept of processes among nanoparticles in ground will be shown for two types of nanoparticles in ground: firstly, synthetic nanoparticles of zero-valent iron, which are used for remediation, and are injected into the ground; secondly, naturally created nanoparticles of bentonite clay, which are studied because of a concept of deep geologic repository of nuclear waste and possibility of sorption of radionuklides
