Ecotoxicity assessment of DDT-contaminated soil after nanoiron application
Original language description
Nanosized zero-valent iron (nZVI) was tested as a promising tool for DDT degradation. On the other hand, effect of nZVI on organisms are still non conclusive. We compared the effect of two types of nZVI on degradation DDT and we aimed to examine the ecotoxicity effects of nZVI on bacteria. A significant effect of nZVI on the degradation of DDT and its metabolites (DDE, DDD) was observed. However, also negative effect of nZVI residues on bacteria was detected.
