Evaluation of influence of plasma treatment in industrial production of powder materials

  • Original language description

Poster - Evaluation of influence of plasma treatment in industrial production of powder materials Powder materials are frequently used in various branches of industry. They are used as additives in composites, lubricant particles, for catalysis, pigments or powders for rotomolding, etc. Plasma based technologies are invaluable alternative in adjustments of powder surface characteristics, which can be adapted to specific requirements depending on powder application e.g. surface activation, chemical treatment or coating prior to the next processing. Proper quality control of the powder properties is a curtail demand for industrial scale application of plasma treatment of powders. In order to define surface characteristics determination of surface energy takes place. Different evaluation methods of plasma treatment effect are available - Washburn suction method, contact angle measurement, XPS with possible application of optical diagnosis of plasma. The last mentioned method can be used as in-situ control method for characterisation of plasma process. So, it is possible to estimate e.g. wettability enhancement using previously mentioned characterisation.
