In this article I would like to summarize the results of survey, which was carried out by the colleagues from the Istanbul Technical University. This research was aimed to determine the current situation of outsourcing logistics activities in Turkey, a country which has a great potential for logistics activities among the surrounding continents because of its geographical location. This study showed that the power of third party logistics (3PL) firms in Turkey is undertestimated. The firms that outsource their logistics activities in Turkey are 95 % foreign capitalized.

Outsourcing se stává stále významnější složkou organizačních struktur 21. století. Účinný supply chain management vyžaduje optimalizaci pohybu produktů, a to počínaje materiálem, konečným produktem u finálního zákazníka konče. Tato optimalizace ústí v potřebu profesionálních expertů v koordinaci logistických služeb. Je výhodné outsoursovat logistické aktivity, neboť nepřináší přidanou hodnotu, ale není možné je eliminovat a 3PL firmy mohou vykonávat logistiku správným způsobem.
