Original language description
This paper deals with current status and development of innovative activities of small and medium-sized enterprises in the Czech Republic and compares them with results of large companies. Methodological bases of the research are listed in the first partof the paper. The second part shows the results of two researches among companies which have been carried out in 2006 and 2008. The research was aimed at studying the gaining of public support for innovative activities of companies, given costs of external and internal research and development in the range of small, medium-sized and large enterprises. From the research results can be seen that large companies are not more successful in gaining the support from public resources than small and medium-sized enterprises. It was found that the differences in public support are not statistically significant between the group of SMEs and the group of large companies.
