Various legal and voluntary types of environmental tools are used for environmental protection. This article aims at defining the environmental policy of the Czech Republic, classifying its tools and focusing on some of them in depth. First, the articleclassifies the environmental policy from the point of view of the National Policy on environment and it lists the environmental tools listed in the National Policy document. The other part is focused on the appraisal of the ecological tax reform up to now as one of the tools influencing the environment within the environmental policy of the state. In the final part the article focuses on the environmental accounting in more detail, as a voluntary instrument of the state environmental policy.
