Real-time Approaches to Improving Traffic Safety

  • Original language description

This paper deals with advanced approaches which may increase traffic safety. The solutions suggested in this paper work in real time and therefore make it possible to effectively warn a specific driver about a situation which could threaten their safety. In the beginning the concept of RADIO-HELP is explained. This system is designed to distribute warning messages to drivers automatically and the messages are distributed only to drivers in the vicinity of a traffic accident who are heading towards it. The second described approach is a system of an early-warning about a high risk of a traffic accident, which predicts the risk of a traffic accident in real time. Models used for the predictions are based on data-mining techniques. RADIO-HELP can again be used for addressed distribution of information.
