Economic Inequalities and the Level of Decentralization in European Countries: Cluster Analysis
Original language description
The published article identifies relations between the degree of decentralization and economic imbalances on the basis of a cluster (exploratory) analysis. The aim of the research was to define groups of countries and to characterize their mutual similarity on the basis of selected indicators and to find out whether a higher degree of autonomy of administrative units brings lower imbalances in production and in distribution. From the results obtained, it cannot be definitely stated that countries characterised by a high degree of decentralization necessarily show the lowest degrees of economic imbalances, nevertheless, it is possible to conclude that the countries with the higher degree of decentralization rather belong among countries with more favourable values of the economic imbalances indicators monitored.
