The main objective of the present Global University Entrepreneurial Spirit Students’ Survey (GUESSS) is to map university students‘ approaches to business and determine their interest in establishing a company after graduation or after 5 years. Another goal is to understand the university, social and family environment that motivates and supports students‘ interest in entrepreneurial activities. The GUESSS survey has been conducted approximately every two years since 2003. The research was launched at the Swiss Institute for Family Business and Entrepreneurship in St. Gallen. The Faculty of Economics of the Technical University in Liberec has been providing analysis at universities in the Czech Republic since 2016. A total of 57 countries participated in the anonymous online GUESSS survey in 2023 and the total final response included 227,712 completed questionnaires (Sieger et al., 2024). While this represents a lower rate of respondent participation than in 2021, when the total return reached 267,000 students, it is still higher than the 2018 survey result of 209,000 participants. A similar wave in the return of questionnaires can also be seen in the Czech Republic: Number of respondents for the Czech Republic with complete answers 2023/1,407; 2021/1,971; 2018/1,254; 2016/1,135.
