    The main goal of protective clothing design is the realization of heat resistance. On the other hand it is necessary to ensure wearing comfort as well. Important parts of mechanical comfort are tactile properties including roughness. In this work standard methods of surface roughness characterization and methods based on fractal dimension are compared .
