One of the main problems of flat textiles structure modeling is definition of the yarn cross-section. An assumption of circular profile is not correct. In the structure one of the most important parameters is mutual position of contacted yarns that couldbe described by minimal distance of neutral axis in the yarns crossings. This, in the paper called effective yarn diameter, could be predicted by different models. In the paper an attempt to measure it is done using results of measuring of fabric breaking elongation.

Czech description
Jedním z hlavních problémů modelování textilních struktur je definice průřezu nitě. Obvyklý předpoklad kruhového průřezu neodpovídá realitě. Pro strukturu plošných textilií je jeden z nejdůležitějších parametrů vzájemná poloha nití ve vazných bodech, kterou lze popsat vzdálenosti neutrálních os nití v místě křížení. Tento tzv. efektivní průměr nitě lze zjišťovat pomocí různých modelů. V příspěvku je učiněn pokus měřit efektivní průměr nitě pomocí tažnosti pleteniny.
