Sound absorption of nonwovens structures containing special fibers
Original language description
In this work, we shall study the effect of fiber cross-section shape and fiber fineness on the acoustic absorption properties of relatively thin nonwoven fabrics (around 7 mm), both as monolayer or sandwich structures (also called bilayer structures). The idea is that fiber fineness is not the only important characteristic, but the shape of the fiber profile may also be an important parameter as they will induce special pore shapes in the structure that may influence the absorption of the sonic waves. In addition, organizing the fibers into a two-layer sandwich structure can also play a role also depending on the side the sound wave is penetrating the fibrous structure. This will be particularly investigated in this work.
