Deformation and tensile properties of plain weave fabric in arbitrary direction, verifying the model

Result description

The authority of proposed model in [1] is empirically investigated in this paper. A test method to evaluate flattening of yarn is utilized in this study. Moreover, to reduce stress concentration at the sample's corners a modified griper is developed andapplied. On the basis of initial data of fabric and flattening behavior of constitutive yarns, the fabric geometry and tensile force-strain of a piece in arbitrary direction can be estimated by proposed model. The variations in density of warp and weft yarns, warp-weft angle and tensile force-strain of a fabric in different directions are measured in this investigation and are compared with predicted values. It was found that the geometrical-mechanical model is applicable to predict fabric geometry andtensile behavior of a plain weave fabric under stress in arbitrary direction.
