Imperfections of gravimetric methods for the measurement of water vapour permeability of fabrics
Original language description
In the paper, thermomechanical analysis of some gravimetric methods for testing the water vapour permeability of fabrics is outlined, with the objective to determine selected factors, which may cause the measurement imperfection. It was confirmed, that the changing space between the water level and a sample, unsteady velocity of the air flow along the sample and namely varying parameters of the temperature and humidity of the air (water vapour) on both sides of the sample can substantially affect the measurement precision. From the conclusions follows, that simple conversion between the data obtained from gravimetric methods and the evaporation resisistance Ret according the ISO 11092 is not possible, without knowledge of certain parameter of the testing device.
