Leno fabrics stability and strength
Original language description
Leno fabrics comprise a warp and weft thread system just the same as normal plain fabrics. The warp system is split into straight and looping warp threads. Straight warp threads are always under the weft threads and represent the lower shed during weaving. Looping warp threads are always above the filling threads and represent the upper shed during weaving. Leno fabric cohesion is attained by positioning looping warp threads once on the left and once on the right of straight warp threads of a leno group. Slip force in the fabric element F p is generally defined as force in thread which leads to the disrupt balance in the binding point. The ideal fabric strength Plo or Piu without interactions are in fact strengths of parallel yarns in fabrics. This model is valid for plain fabrics. For leno fabrics the number of warp threads should be doubled. The ratio between slip forces in then dependent on the fabric sett and fineness.
