The Effect of Moisture on Thermal Resistance and Water Vapour Permeability of Nomex Fabrics
Original language description
In the paper two fast working testing instruments AlAMBETA and PERMETEST are presented, which provide reliable non-destructive measurement of thermal conductivity, thermal resistance and water vapour permeability of fabrics in dry and wet state. By meansof these instruments, thermal resistance and water vapour permeability of different Nomex fabrics in wet state were experimentally determined and results were discussed. The effect of their structure and composition has been investigated as well. In this study also a new method of assessing the effective water vapour permeability of wet semi-permeable fabrics is described, which enables the determination of ratio between the level of cooling heat flow penetrating the wet fabric and the level of coolingheat flow caused by moisture evaporation from the fabric surface.
