SIMULATION OF THE EFFECT OF AIR GAPS BETWEEN THE SKIN AND A WET FABRIC ON RESULTING COOLING FLOW

Result description

The water vapour transport properties of textiles are of considerable importance in determining thermal comfort properties of clothing systems. During heavy work or in hot environments, a high degree of water vapour permeability of the clothing materialssupports the moisture transfer from the skin of the wearer through the textile layers into the envirometnt [1]. As the moisture content of a fabric increases the relative water vapour permeability (RWVP) increases as well and the fabric temperature drops due to the evaporation of the water from the surface of the fabric [2].
