Optimization and Characterization of Polyvinyl Butyral Nanofibers in Different Acetalisation Degree

  • Original language description

The effect of material and process parameters have been widely investigated for nanofibres. Properties of polymer are the main parameters for electrospinning process. Polyvinyl butyral (PVB) in different concentration and acetalisation degree was used inroller electrospinning system. Rheological study showed a strong dependence of fiber morphology on solution viscosity. Acetalisation degree of polymer solution has been found to most strongly affect fiber size, with fiber diameter increasing with increasing acetalisation degree of polymer solution and the morphology of the deposition on the supporting material changed from spherical beads to non-fibrous networks.Through this experiment, it was determined that the optimal concentration of PVB with weight average molecular weight (Mw) 60.000 g/mol is 8 wt % PVB60H, 9 wt % and 10 wt % PVB60T as indicated by scanning electron microscopy. PVB nanofibres was fabricated and optimized. PVB fibre morphology strongly depends on the concentration
