Flex fatique behaviour of side emitting optical fiber
Original language description
Fatigue behavior of side emitting optical fiber (SEOF) with the diameter of 0.25 mm under 12 different pretensions was investigated with fatigue life curve by flexometer. The maximum load for the pretension was 98% of ultimate tensile strength calculatedfrom stress-strain curve. The minimum load for the pretension was 5 g due to the limited flexibility of SEOF and large bending angle with flexmeter. The results showed the low flex fatigue resistance to high prescribed load and 25g was estimated as thecritical pretension for present investigation.
