Innovations in 3D Fabric Constructions for Producing Textile Structural Composites
Original language description
In this paper some recent developments in the field of 3D weaving machines and 3D woven structures are described. Technological developments with respect to produce profile structures, spacer or distance fabrics and several integral but complex constructions to manufacture advanced structural composite materials are explained. Applications of 3D fabrics for making composite materials are highlighted. Geometrical modeling of 3D woven structures is carried out to predict the dimensional properties of thefabric by soft computing. It is concluded that 3D fabrics can be engineered with very specific characteristics.
