Aerogels have created a niche in the field of thermal insulation. They have wide ranging applications in domestic and industrial domains. The thermal insulating properties of textile fabrics depend on their thermal conductivity, density, thickness and thermal emission characteristics. Textile fabrics treated with aerogel have shown a considerable change in their insulation properties. In this paper various experiments have been reported with the objective of studying heat transfer through the aerogel treated polyester and polyethylene non-woven fabric of varying thickness.
