NANOFIBROUS VASCULAR GRAFT RELEASING NITRIC OXIDE
Original language description
Small diameter vascular grafts incorporating long term nitric oxide (NO) release were prepared by electrospinning. Nanofibrous vascular grafts made from biodegradable polymer polycaprolactone were modified by the addition of novel, NO-releasing compoundfrom the group of S-Nitrosothiols. An initial burst of NO was measured leading to long term release during 10 days at 37°C measured in vitro. This demonstrates the presence of NO-releasing groups entrapped within the fibers that are believed to improve vascular graft properties.
