    Linen Fiber and Yarn Stress Strain Curves

    The problem considered is the interpretation of tensile force utilization of twisted linen ring yarns in terms of their geometrical structure and the properties of staple fibers. The stress-strain curve of linen fiber and yarns over the whole range of extensions are measured and interpolated linearly. The fiber properties are introduced in the form of complete stress-strain properties of staple spun linen yarns. A theoretical equation has been developed to evaluate the point utilization for linen ring yarns. The experimental and predicted curves for point tensile force utilization for both linen yarns were drawn. Utilization-strain data for yarns show close agreement for experimental and predicted point utilization curves, except in the region of smallextension (less than 0.02) using an empirical constant k. The mathematical model can predict the strength of linen ring yarns up to 90 95 percent using empirical constant.
