Apparel has maintained an important place in human life beginning with the historical era to today's modern world. Textile industry is a specific branch and thus it has found its own place in education and also in university education. Sustainable development in the textile industry has three aspects: social, economic and environmental. These three aspects are included in the study programme of textile marketing. The article maps the development of higher textile education, its content and structure. It deals with the reason for the creation of the branch and its prospects. Textile marketing is a relatively young field that combines technical and humanities education, which makes it a promising field.
