Study on the Thermal Property of Highly Porous Nonwoven Fabrics
Original language description
Generally, the thermal property of textiles is predicted without considering convective and radiative heat transfer, but heat transfer through nonwoven fabrics may include conduction through solid fibers, conduction through air in the interfiber spaces, free convection, and radiation due to its unique structure. Therefore, the purpose of this work is to investigate the effect of structure on the thermal property of nonwoven fabrics, as well as the ratios of conductive, convective, and radiative heat transfer to the total heat transfer. Nonwoven fabrics with different parameters in terms of density, thickness, porosity and pore size were prepared by carding machine and needle-punching machine. The thermal properties of fibers and nonwoven fabrics were measured by Alambeta instrument, which enables the quick measurement of both steady-state and transient-state thermal properties. Some interesting results were observed in this work. With the increase of porosity and pore size, the increas
