The Combination of Three - Dimensional Biodegradable Fiber Scaffolds with Bioprinting

  • Original language description

This study presents the advantages of the combination of three-dimensional biodegradable scaffolds with the cell bioprinting. This combination uses the synergic effect of the individual components properties - a very favorable mechanical and structural properties of the fiber scafolds from polycaprolactone and the target bioprinting of hydrogel cell suspension with a high hydrophilicity. This properties very positively promotes the inner cell proliferation and the ability to create compact tissue. Scaffolds were composed of mixture of microfibers produced by meltblown technology ensuring optimal three dimensional porous structure and sufficient mechanical properties, and electrospun nanofibers for good cell adhesion. The scaffolds were suitable for combination with bioprinting due to their mechanical properties, because the only nanofibers scaffold were deformed during the bioprinting. Bioprinting was realized by CNC manipulator with a heated print head, that enabled exact dosing of hydrogel cell suspension, into the scaffolds. Hyaluron hydrogel created a favorable hydrophilic ambience after filling of the fiber structure. The preliminary in-vitro tests showed the high potential of this combination in TE - good structural and mechanical properties of the tested material allows osteoblasts to proliferate into the sample inner structure with the significant contribution of bioprinting hydrogel cell suspension to cell proliferation rate.
