DYNAMIC MECHANICAL ANALYSIS OF JUTE/EGLASS COMPOSITE STRUCTURES
Original language description
Textile reinforced composite materials come into prominence day by day. In this study, plain woven E-glass andjute fabrics were chosen as the reinforcement material to manufacture the composite structures. Threecomposite laminates, each of which is composed of four ply fabrics (GGGG, JJJJ and GJGJ; G: E-glass, J: Jute) weremanufactured by vacuum bagging system. Polyester resin was used as the matrix material. The effect of the typeof the reinforcement material on dynamic mechanical properties (Storage modulus (E´), loss modulus (E´´) anddamping parameter (tan δ)) was investigated as a function of temperature by dynamic mechanical analysis(DMA). DMA test results revealed that both the highest storage modulus & loss modulus were achieved with Eglassfabric reinforced composite sample which represents the elastic behavior and the viscous behavior of thematerial, respectively. Also, it was seen that modulus and damping parameter of the hybrid sample were closeto the modulus and damping parameter of the jute fabric reinforced sample, instead of E-glass fabric reinforcedsample. Besides, Tg values of composite samples were observed from the modulus and tan δ curves and it wasseen that E-glass fabric reinforced sample has a bit higher Tg value than the other composite samples.
