GEOPOLYMER/FLY ASH CONCRETE COMPOSITE MATERIALS
Original language description
Portland cement is the most widely used construction materials for decades due to its excellent thermal performance, mechanical properties and durability. The production of cement is increasing about 3 % annually. However, the cement industry is the second largest producer of the greenhouse gas. Among the greenhouse gases, CO2 contributes about 65% of global warming. The cement production and resulting emissions are expected to increase by 100 % from the current level by 2020. Beside the emission of CO2, cement industry launches SO3 and NOx which can cause the greenhouse effect and acid rain.
