Thermal properties of Compression Socks at Various Extension Levels
Original language description
The aim of this research is to analyze effect of transverse gradient elastic elongation (%) on thermo-physiological properties i.e. thermal effusivity (W.sec1/2/m2. K), thermal conductivity (W/m.K) in relaxed (0% extension) and extended state (upto 70% extension). Objective: compression socks avoided to wear due to less comfortness level during various activities. Method: To extend the compression socks, a novel extension frame was used. C-Therm, TCi tester was used to evaluate thermal properties of compression socks. Results: Conclusively, we found that as transverse elastic elongation of compression socks increases, thermo-physiological properties i.e. thermal conductivity (W/m.K) and thermal effusivity (W.sec1/2/m2. K) increases. Out of three socks samples, the best one was rib structured compression socks sample. All the results were analyzed statistically using MINITAB 17 software to evaluate the significance (p value < 0.05) of results.
