Electrical Heating Properties of Various Carbonized Textile Structures

  • Original language description

In this work, carbon structures are prepared by controlling paralysis of various fibrous wastes, including PAN nonwoven, PAN woven, Kevlar nonwoven, Kevlar woven and carbon woven using physical activation in high temperature furnaces with the carbonization temperature at 800°C, 1000°C and 1200°C. The influence of carbonization temperature and fiber assembly structure on electric heating properties of prepared carbon structures was studied by applying different voltages on the as prepared samples. At the end, the heating and cooling rate as well as the energy consumption during the heating process of different carbon structures were calculated and analyzed. The results show that most of the carbon structures have shown electric heating performance under applied voltages. As the rising carbonization temperature, the maximum temperature in electric heating process of various carbon structures became higher. A relatively more uniform distribution of temperature and less heat concentration during the heating process can be observed on nonwoven structures`. Some of the samples present better heating performance than commercial graphene film at the same applied voltage.
