Thermal Behavior of Form-stable Paraffin Wax/Expanded Graphite Composites

  • Original language description

Paraffin wax (PW) is a typical phase change materials (PCMs) that has been used for thermal energy storage. However, the leakage and low thermal conductivity of PW has limited its application and thermal energy storage efficiency. In this work, PW/expanded graphite (EG) composites were prepared via the melting-blending method. The morphology and thermal behavior of PW/EG composites were investigated. It was found that PW as coating layers covering EG structures had no leakage. The final PW/EG composites had the latent heat fusion of around 122 J/g. Besides, the crystalline degree of embedded PW in EG was increased. The PW/EG composites have a great potential in thermal energy-related fields. © Textile Bioengineering and Informatics Symposium Proceedings 2022 - 15th Textile Bioengineering and Informatics Symposium, TBIS 2022.
