Use of Alternating Current Spinning to Prepare Carbon Nanofibers From Commercial PAN Fibers
Original language description
The aim of this study was to explore the potential of recycling commercial polyacrylonitrile fibers through electrospinning to produce carbon nanofibers (CNFs). We evaluated the feasibility of producing bulk nanofiber layers from recycled polymer and optimized the process to achieve an optimal solution concentration (10 wt%). Furthermore, we investigated the influence of oxidation and carbonization on the structure and properties of the resulting CNF layers. The obtained data show that carbonization leads to a decrease in fiber diameter and mass while maintaining the overall layer thickness. Interestingly, we observed a significant increase in electrical conductivity at temperatures above 700°C. This study contributes to the development of sustainable technologies for processing polymer waste and opens up new possibilities for the application of carbon nanofibers.
