Original language description
The present paper uses an statistical approach to the modeling and comparison of shapes of cross-sections for several types of textile fibers. Unfolded contours of cross-sections are described as a smooth periodical curve contaminated with local nonregularities and analyzed with the aid of the statistical regression model The corresponding regression curve is constructed as the combination of trigonometric functions, its complexity is optimized by methods of mathematical statistics. It is also shown, byrandom sampling, that the parameters of the model correspond to different deformations of circular contour.
