The basic facts concerning the development of the probability theory in the Czech lands are summarized. The following themes are shortly discussed: the first papers dealing with the probability theory,which were written by S. Vydra and B. Bolzano, the beginning of teaching of the probability theory (in this connection J. Smolík, F. J. Studnička and A. Pánek are mentioned), and the works concerning the probability theory,which were written by E. Czuber, B. Hostinský and K. Rychlík.

V článku jsou shrnuta základní fakta o vývoji teorie pravděpodobnosti v českých zemích. Je v něm stručně pojednáno o prvních pracích týkajících se teorie pravděpodobnosti, jejichž autory byli S. Vydra a B. Bolzano,o počátcích výuky teorie pravděpodobnosti (zde jsou uvedeni J.Smolík, F. J. Studnička a A. Pánek), a o pravděpodobnostních pracích E. Czubera, B. Hostinského a K. Rychlíka.
