New Forms of Cross-border Co-operation Governance as a Tool of Environmental Protection Strategies ? Example from Czech-Polish-Slovak Borders
Original language description
State borders still constitute barrier in the current EU. However this barrier can be partly eliminated by conducting a cross-border co-operation (CBC), which can result into creation of cross-border regions. These regions create their own governance structures, which deal with individual CBC areas. One of the principal CBC areas is environmental protection in many regions. The goal of this paper is analysis how does newly created Czech-Polish-Slovak European Grouping of Territorial Co-operation (EGTC)TRITIA take into account environmental protection as one of its co-operation areas. Theoretical part of paper was done by desk-research, its analytical part is mainly based on own qualitative research results in the EGTC TRITIA. Research outcomes confirminitial hypothesis that as EGTC TRITIA region core is presented by axis Ostrava ? Katowice ? the most polluted part of the EU, the environment is among co-operation priorities.
