Original language description
The most promising method for producing silica nanofibers is the electrospinning of a sol (polymeric solution) prepared by the sol-gel method. This method for the mass-production of nanofibers has already been developed, and it is called Nanospider. These very fine fibers are characterized by a number of specific properties such as high specific surface area, high porosity, chemical activity on their surface and thermal stability. The silica nanofibers are very attractive for applications in medicine, filtration and noise absorption.
